near sandgate, theres a few good areas i can think of Warabrook is very close and not a bad place, Also Maryland is good for a family, Maryland is only 5mins from some nice 4wding out at sugarloaf. If your more of a beach front person, Stockton is a great place but bloody expensive as is most of the beach side suburbs around Newcastle. If you after are more rural area and a few acres, you can look around minmi and black hill, there around the edges of sugarloaf, or head north a bit towards raymond terrace and its surround suburbs. I guess it depends what your after!
