There's rum and then there's RUM

I'm usually a single malt whisky drinker but when we were in Kununurra we visited the Hoochery Distillery. Bought me a coupla them thair' bottles of Hooch (after tasting).

Ord River Rum - Barrelling Strength
    Ord River Rum - Overproof

I've just cracked the barrelling strength bottle. Couple of chips of ice, let it sit and soak up some hydration and sip very, very slowly... she's going to last a long, long time that bottle is.

They make some very nice rum!

Ahh, Rum. Never used to drink it until I went to Cuba. I am now quite partial to the black label Havana Club which you can buy here. All of the good quality rums I tried in Cuba they don't export! Bummer.....

    Derek,

Give Angostura a try. The 8yo is good, but the 12yo is SOMETHING else.

You can really pick the orange zest, vanilla, honey, raisins and spices. The smokey flavour from charred oak barrels, but it is OHH SOO smooth.

In fact, I will have one right now.

I'm still enjoying my nip for the evening. At 70.2% it's not something to drink neat.

Hmmm, time to get the 'Stroh" out the cupboard - two bottles, one 60% and the other 80% - quite lethal, but what a way to go....

While knocking around the bush for years, I always carried the good ol
Red Mill in my tucker box.
I stopped drinking and smoking tho, ten years ago.
Dont think I feel better for it.

a few years ago I took some bottles of bundy over to the caribbean, and at a couple of different gatherings of learned locals they tasted the bundy, to see their faces was an enlightenment as I have always thought that bundy was worlds worst rum.....thier faces confirmed it and they had been looking forward to tasting bundy after what has been said about it. You want to taste some real nice rum try some Appleton, dark, light or white, its perfect or perhaps some St Lucia Chairmans Reserve......youll never drink bundy again.

    Yep, Havana is the go.
they make the Dark, white and black leabel.
i stock them all in my bar (fumoblu) and use them as 1st pour options and in cocktails like Mojito.
We do not stock agro juice or Bundy because its rough and brings the worst out of people.

Go the cuban stuff and a touch of water, no ice to get a real taste of the stuff.
Ice is the devil to drinks and only very bad spirits should be chilled to hide their taste.

    Anyhow thats another story.
