The above problem has been worked out - the unit will switch on when the room is warm. So I just have to wait until the house warms up.

But..... Today the heater element has gone leaky to ground and is tripping off the house ELCB/RCD.

Just to bring everyone up to speed on the vibration on the P38A (remember from an earlier post in this thread that I thought it had dropped a cylinder, well, it's a broken flex plate in the transmission. The plate is availabe but the new flywheel is not available in Australia so it's a 3 week wait for it to come from the UK).
