Rescue tape (and I think there are others with different names) is good, albeit expensive, but be careful to get rid of as much dust as possible before bringing the rescue tape near the job - the dust stops it from amalgamating. Also needs to be dry, but at least you can dry the water off it - dust seems to be permanent.
