    CDL actuator Install

I figured after bitching so much about the cost of the kits i should get of my ass and do something about it.

OK, in the tradition of a Stevo tutorial, here it is.....

Actuator kit. Total cost $2.95. (Mainly because i had to buy a whole packet of nylock nuts).

After lengthening the 10mm slot at one end of the lever ( I think it was the crappy spanner included in the install kit for some piece of furniture), and purchasing some nylock nuts we were ready for install.

30 mins later with the addition of a couple of washers for spacing and we're done.

I realise as a tutorial, this falls a long way short of even Stevos' efforts, due to the fact that i couldn't get my hand, with camera, anywhere near taking a shot of the lever in place. However it is in and now I have the luxury of being able to actuate CDL by simply lying down in the dirt, but not actually having to get UNDER the truck.

    cheers

    Excellent Tutorial

It demonstrated that it is cheap & simple to make the conversion ... & get the most out of your car

    Nice job,

Heres another one that you can reach by just kneeling down...even gives the dimensions for making it

That looks like the bizzo, and at a reasonable price too. Certainly more accessable than mine. Nice spotting UP.

This is the type that I based my lever on. Sunday afternoon was spent under the car thinking about and making the lever, the setup and adjusting the switch to show the CDL is on.

I will eventually make up another bracket so I can run a cable back into the car.

So far the cost has been zero. You have to be happy with that.

    CDL Lever

    Guys,
I did the same as the rovershoppe item. bought a length of 3mm x 25mm stainless bar and cut to the dimensions shown on the website.
I got the nyloc and tiny steel tab from the wreckers off a d1 and bolted together.
it used to rattle a bit so I then cut off a piece of nylon bread board (out of the boat - bait board), cut a slot into and bolted to the chassis rail.
I can get out of the car, reach under and pull the CDL on/off.
Its handy on sand, where the Traction control is cr@p.
If you do it, before the cars computer is turned on, it automatically turns off
the traction control, very handy on beaches.
It is literally 1 hours work - works beautifully.
