Visor - what do you think

Have been on the road a lot lately in the hot sun, and decided to investigate the old sun visor. My defender is ugly anyway with roof-top air con, and its bright orange - I'm more into function than form - but what do you think of this for $265?

Any front on or 3/4 views ?

where did you get it , custom made ?? cant make out the label on the side.

big question is how much difference does it make and does it cut down the sun glare, I find I'm often reaching for my hat to cut the sun glare but end up with a hot head.

also I suppose its going to interfere with screen mounted gps devices, thats going to count me out if it does 'cause I've got the little GPS critters all lined up on my dash, one in the SPOT tracker, one for Geotagging photos, one in the Dashcam & then the Garmin Nuvi

    anyway - good stuff

I don't have one, just the photo provided by the supplier. They are made to order to a pattern - just specify the vehicle.

Have had them on large trucks and falcon and holden utes over the years. They do have wind noise over 110kmh and really whistle at 120-130! But for sun protection your cannot beat them! Use 1 heading west at 3pm on and you will never be without 1 again! Ugly? sorta, but can you spoil the lines of a deefer?

    function > form

I reckon it looks alright haha
If it blocks the sun well then it doesn't really matter what it looks like on a deefer anyway - the whole car is function over form

Make sure you post a pic if you end up getting it

I don't think it will do much. The Defender has a fairly upright windscreen so sun beating down on you is not that much of an issue. I think if the windscreen was raked back a bit more then you would get the benefit of such a shade when the sun is high in the sky.

I suggest you make up a drawing and see how much sun protection it provides in terms of angles etc.

That sort of thing was everywhere in the 60's and 70's. bet it will work a treat.

As mentioned they were very popular in he 60 and 70's on vehicles with the sloping windscreens, and I always thought the solid ones went a lot further for shade than the mesh type. And looked better as well.
That one on the picture is a fair way from the top of the screen, so a sizeable gap of pure light is going to come in anyway.
It may make some noise as mentioned but I think that's why mesh was invented. I'd probably buy a solid one for touring. $265 is a bit steep though.
