This thread is here so we can post up any service bulletins or recalls that maybe relevant to the new defender 07 and onwards..

the idea is if anyone comes accross one if they would be so kind as to forward it on to my self via PM then i will post it up in here.

hopefully the result being, everyone with a new defender knowing about any problems they may need to address with their dealer..and a good resource for anyone that maybe searching the site for info if they are planning on looking/buying or even dreaming about getting a new defender in the future.

For some strange reason (saving some money, possibly), LR decided to replace the traditionale brackets for the A-frame, the ones that are bolted to the chassis, with welded brackets.
Now they have found out that with time (but not much time has passed, one year or so...) the welded brackets may not be up to the job, resulting in the rear axle going astray, with inevitable disappointment of the driver, who finds himself driving a car with a will of its own.
It seems that the first vehicles are exempted, as probably LR still had some of the old brackets as stock, and that later ones are exempted too, as they reverted to the old system; in between, from VIN 736064 up to VIN 752152, all defenders should be inspected and, if the case be, rectified, by welding additional patches to the already welded brackets.
The service action should be carried out by LR workshops as the vehicle comes in for the first useful maintenance service.

Actually talking to my local landrover mechanic few weeks ago and he said he had an 07 driver actually pull into hi garage off the road as his steering totally locked up and he couldn't steer properly

i believe this was the reason but i cant say that for sure

Dear Colleagues
In plant quality inspections have determined that on a number of 2009MY Defender vehicles, the
'A' frame top link arm bushes at the chassis bracket location end of the arm can rotate due to a
potential ovality/oversize of the bore in which the bush is installed.
Customers may experience vibration and a noise likely to be a whine.

Action to be taken
At the next service opportunity you are requested to visually inspect and repair if necessary. The
workshop procedure is attached as Appendix 1.

Please ensure all unsold vehicles are repaired prior to handover to the customer.
A number of vehicles have been reworked at the factory prior to dispatch and can be
identified by a white square sticker in the corner of the windshield; no further action is
required on these vehicles.

Please check DDW to ensure that the vehicle is affected by this Service Action prior to
undertaking any rework action. DDW will be updated to reflect only those vehicles
affected. Should you require a listing of the affected vehicles, please contact the Land
Rover Field Actions team by e-mail. All overseas
requests should be forwarded via the National Sales Company/Regional Office only.
At the time of confirming a booking for vehicle repair, please ensure that all
outstanding Field Service Actions are identified to ensure the correct parts are
available and adequate workshop time is allocated for repairs to be completed at one visit

Symptom: 703000 Vibration Concerns

Content Issue: Loose or missing front / rear propshaft grease nipples for Defender 07 MYonward vehicles.

Action: If any propshafts are identified where the grease nipples are missing, then the propshaft should be replaced. Any cases where the grease nipples are in place but loose should be torqued to 8Nm + 45degrees.
