Are the lower shock bushes the poly type ?? If so change to rubber and don't do then up too tight.

Any ideas guys....
Have been off-roading today - nothing too extreme but quite technical.
Vehicle is a 110DC TD5 with King Spring Springs on each corner and two Foam Cell dampers on each corner of the rear axle, arranged in a V formation with the spring running up the centre of the V.
Today whilst playing I broke one of the dampers (right hand side rear axle, front damper - i.e. the one on the original mounts) The top eye is OK and the damper is fine. The problem is the stud that pokes through the bottom bushes and bolts through the axle bracket has sheared, just above the thread.
I think, looking at the way the damper is, is that the damage was done with the spring fully compressed - the damper is also compressed rather than extended.
All other 3 Foam Cells on the rear appear to be fine.
Rear springs are King Spring KLRR-05
Rear Dampers are Tough Dog - FC41398
Trailing arms, rear prop, bump stops etc are all standard (on the rear)
Any ideas?
Thanks
Jon

Jon

Easy answer Jon,thier CRAP!!.I had two fronts loose oil and one back one snap and weak puppy blamed my vehicle saying toyota, nissan drivers love them and won't use anything else.No warranty or exchange so billys for eight years without a hitch and now koni's. Pat
Ive broken the stud on Tough dogs, Bilstein, Stockers, Pedders, Rancho... blah blah blah. Using rubber bushes done up loose. They just break when you load em up- it is only a 10mm pin under a fair old angle??? maybe eye bottom mount is less likely to bend and break.
Weld them back on and with judicious use of Mr Arc or Mr MIG...

Must admit I had thought of welding them back up if the warranty avenue proves fruitless.

Jon
wrap a wet rag around the can if you are worried about heating it too much but I reckon that unless you park 140A of arc on the stud for 5 minutes you still wont get the oil and can as hot as driving corrugations for a day?
