Air Compressor Beneath Bonnet of 08 Puma

Finally got around to fitting my compressor beneath my 08 Puma bonnet. I squeezed it in, in between the fender and interior blow unit (Fig1). I got away without drilling any holes by picking up the bolts for the blower unit and for the passenger side door slider bolt, which bolts through the fire wall (not shown).

I had to make a braket for the compressor to sit on as I didn't really want to drill holes through the fire wall (Fig2 & Fig3)

I extended the suction of the compressor and made a small manifold for my quick coupling and overpressure switch (Fig4). It took me about 4hrs to buggar around with it, but if was to do it again knowing that it does fit it'd take maybe 1-2hrs.

I can't see them either. I just had mine fitted this week. It is a Big Red mounted on its side, under the middle seat rear pasenger door. Mounted an on/off switch. Just open the door, connect the hose and bingo! In fact, I can tuck the hose up the side or underneath as well. I really like it because it is easily accessible.

Sorry images attached... I used the ARB Compressor. It was small enough to fit into space available. I need to wire it up and run my air lines to front and back of vehicle... next project...

PS... are you concerned that the under bonnet temperature might affect the performance of the compressor?

I raised the Compressor Inlet up and out the region of where all the heat will (increased the suction to directly beneath the bonnet) be so it can suck cool air and help it's volumetric efficiency... Also the ARB Compressors come with a nice fat finned aluminium external shroud which acts as a heat sink... I'm thinking I'll be ok, but if heat becomes a issue I'll post a notice, although I can't see it being any different to mounting it in with the batteries...

Very neat and a good place for it.

ARB seems to have got it right with this little compressor, I've been very impressed with one a friend has.

I still have a Blue Tongue II which has served me very well but definitely wouldn't fit there. Don't like the idea of under the back seat either so I think I'll leave it in it's box for now. I run it off the anderson plug on the back which makes it a lot easier.

we got one of Arb's new compressors....and I think its bloody slow!!

Compared to what DB?? I've got one of the new ARB compressors and I'm more than impressed with it.
