Slide-on camper for dual-cab Defender

I'm thinking about selling my 110 Defender to buy a 130 dual-cab. The idea is to buy/make a slide on camper that can be lifted up at a campsite, and have a roof-top tent on top of it. This way, my campspot is reserved and I can go day-tripping without lugging the camper around, and I can still tow my boat. Inside the camper would be kitchen and storage.

Does anybody know of good brands I can check out either to buy or get ideas from?

You can get a few ideas here:
Adventure Camping and Off Road Trailers - Traytop - Ute Mounted Camper
Candy Canvas :: Dual Cab
Trayon Campers
Piggy Back Campers
Dual Cab 'Tray Topper' camper trailer - by Outback Campers
Heaslip Campers Welcome to Heaslip Campers
My personal favourites would be the CandyCanvas or the OutbackCampers

Gday Ryan
Cannot help with the slide on camper and I think MTB covered it well but I found this 130 at British Offroad. Not sure if your after a 300tdi td5 or Puma but this looks real good and they sell quality cars with warranty.

Sorry to take it off topic but thought you may be interested as I was till the boss said No to selling the 110.

Hey mate,

It's all making sense now.

You probably already have but just check out the child restraint issue in the 130's. It seems it is a bit more of a challenge than in the 110. We have just had a bub and it is one of the reasons for us going for the 110 now.

Hmmm... to be feasible, I reckon it might be better to find a drop-side tray rather than a tub. Bugger all on the market - wonder how much to replace a tub with a tray? I'll ask in the Pinnacles.

I've got a Trayon. Extremely happy with it thus far.

There are people that would like to use a tub to make a trailer so you will get some money for it

After a bit of searching around, I think I might end up getting a box built. A lot of the tray campers don't fit my requirements, in that they incorporate a kitch/living area inside them.

What I'm after is a box that simply stores all my camping stuff, possibly with a pull out kitchen to use under and awning, and legs to make it self-standing, with a tent on top.

I figure it may be cheaper to design one myself or find a basic box unit, and fit it out to my liking.

That was what we originally were going to do... all designed and ready to go then I realized that I would have to have a box to stand on to cook or do anything because of the height of the defender's tray...can't remember if your wife is taller than me
