The most dangerous cake recipe
5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons S.R.flour.
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons veg oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
a small splash of vanilla extract or Liqueur.
1 large coffee mug.
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg, milk and oil and liqueur. Mix thoroughly. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!
Add Coles/ Woolies lite spray can cream. Or add icecream/ fruit.

dont stress too much, its something those of us here on AULRO with expanding waistlines will appreciate being reposted lol!
I'm disappointed. I have tried that recipe with considerable success.
However since this was in the "Camping, Tucker and Bush Basics" section, I thought, "You beaut! Someone has tried it in the camp oven and found that it works there too".
Has anyone tried it in the camp oven.

Good news! The recipe works in a camp oven.
More details and photos to follow when I have a bit more time.

OK, I hope you appreciate this information, because I drove all the way into Bendethra Valley on Tuesday afternoon just so that I could camp the night and test this recipe.
The first trivet I used was a bit tall and put the top too close to the lid so that the top was getting overdone. A squashed tin can made a thinner trivet that did the job much better.
The microwave version seems to double in size. This one only increased the volume by about 50%. (See comment at the end of this post)
However the texture, while slightly denser was much more consistent and it had none of the huge air bubbles that have developed in the middle of my microwave versions.
It tasted the same as the microwave version and was also great for dessert with warm custard.
It took 25 minutes in what I would have considered a moderately hot camp oven.
However, there is a slight flaw in the test. The SR flour I was using was quite old. I seem to recall that it deteriorates with age. I may need to go back again some time soon and do the whole thing again with fresh flour.![]()

Nice work vnx205. Gee I bet you were just so irked at having to drive to bendethera valley for the night just to test this. I wish my life was that bad!![]()
Yes, it was tough, but someone had to do it.
The weather was great. Warm enough to have a few quick swims, but not hot enough to make the 1 hour walk up to Bendethra Cave on Wednesday afternoon too arduous.
I also had the whole valley to myself. At least I think I did. Because the valley is about 4km long and there are dozens of places to camp right on the Deua River and hundreds of places if you are prepared to camp away from the river, there could easily be other people there and you would never know.
