auto problems...

G'day all,
went out wheelin with a mate of mine in a d1 and after going thru a bog hole... driving up a hill. reversing back down the hill to pull out a stuck patrol(with a big grin on his face), put the car in park get out to hook up snatch strap start car and cannot select gears??? no clunk into gear like normal yet the park brake for the auto still work... pretty sure its selecting with the transfer any one got any ideas??

the pawls have given up, the first clutch pack is shot, the oil level is too low, the selector cable broke?

oil level is right and it still goes in and out of park... its just strange that one minute it was fine.. put it in park and get out get back in and nothing... no clunk no nothing..
