    Aux Input adapter for Disco2

Has anyone had any experience installing or using one of the aux input products that connect into the cd changer input either under the seat or behind the head unit?

I have a 2004 Disco 2 and it has the factory single in dash CD player and radio. Does my head unit even have the facility to do this?

I have trawled through the internet and forums but cannot find anything definite about which head units it will work with.

I would just put in a new head unit with a aux input but I want to retain my steering wheel controls. I am up for this if someone can tell me how.

    Thanks

    Matt

I've got a 2003 Disco and used an auxiliary input interface box which plugs into the back of the Visteon head unit using the CD changer socket. You then just take the headphone output from the ipod to two RCA plugs which connect to the box. It was made by PIE in the US but they won't sell direct, I had to get it through a web vendor who turned out to be a bit dodgy but it all worked out in the end cost about $100 which seems a bit exy but I couldn't find an alternative at the time

go to PIE :: Precision Interface Electronicsand search for LNDR/PC-SON

Feel free to PM if you need more info

    cheers, Andy

I have Eurovox Cassette/Radio (Model 5780R) in my Disco2. Go Technologies have a Eurovox 1030 CD changer for $450 or an mp3 player cable for $55. Apparently the cable plugs into the CD changer socket at the rear of the radio and has the typical headphone jack at the other...

I haven't tried it yet but I'll post feedback when I do.

Just an update to the last, I purchased the mp3 lead for my Eurovox cassette/radio on Thursday. It was easy to fit and hides away in my glove box. I can plug it into my phone (Nokia E66) with a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adaptor and plugs straight into my iPod shuffle. I can even use my phone hands free which I wasn’t expecting…

The mp3 cable works brilliantly, I highly recommend it!

hey guys, I just found this thread and have one question -
do you have to give your cd player the flick and use that particular a/v (ie red/white) sockets, or is there another one behind there?

I've got an 01 'ES' with Eurovox tape/radio head unit and Alipne CD changer under the seat.

    regards

In the case of the Cassette/Radio (Model 5780R), you have to give the CD Changer the flick. This wasn't an issue for me as I didn't have the changer.

This is what the 5780R looks like...

    Hi Milney,
Have you got a pic of the mp3 lead and/or a pic of where it plugs into the back of the head unit? I want to see if it has the correct plugs to plug into the back of the Eurovox single CD unit in my D2a.

    Cheers,
    Chris

    Chris,

It's the socket at the bottom (that may be obvious given the photo...). I've plumbed Go Technologies cable through to the glove box where it hides very nicely. It accommodates the standard audio lead with 3.5mm socket on the end (looks like a headphone plug). The actual lead from Go Technologies is quite a heavy gauge. I plug my own audio cable into the Go Technologies socket inside the glove box then hang my audio lead out of the glove box. I can close the glove box on the standard audio cable with no problem.

I recommend calling them. They tested the cable on my model radio before confirming with me that it was compatible.

    Regards,

    Milney

    No controls!

I have a 2004 Disco 2 and it has the factory single in dash CD player and radio (no CD stacker). The remote controls do not work, I have removed the radio and tested the plug. I am getting a signal from the remote to the radio but no responce at all. Has any one got a circuit diagram for the internal boards in the radio?

mp3 input for Visteon single CD Head Unit

A bit of an update on getting an auxilliary input for the factory Visteon 6500 EUROPE CD unit as fitted to my 2003 D2a.

I researched getting a replacement head unit with auxilliary input etc, but could not find one where I could retain the steering wheel controls. This was a biggie to me as I find them very convenient.

So I recently fitted a LNDR/PC-SON unit from pie.net. I bought mine through ebay. Cost was about $115 delivered.

It plugs directly into the back of the stereo unit. A lead can then be plugged into the RCA plugs on the unit, to run to your mp3 player etc. It is direct "plug and play".

Very happy with the result as it means I can keep my standard head unit with steering wheel controls, but ditch the CDs etc.

    Cheers,
