Codan Autotune Antenna mounted on bullbar - strength of mount?

    Hi All

I have scored a Codon 9323 with matching Autotune antenna. My question is - is the standard antenna mount on the bullbar strong enough for this antenna?

The bullbar is either ARB or TJM steel and the actual antenna mount is 3mm plate bend and welded.

    Cheers

If planning to go into South Australia, IIRC autotunes are not permitted on the front bullbars.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

hmmm...your the second person to tell me that.

Looks like it's time to annoy the neighbours again with the ginder and welder to fabricate a mount so I can hang the antenna from the rear of the 130 tub.

    Thanks

Ditto for W.A. I would think this stance is pretty much universal now.

Codan Autotune antenna mount - Defender 130 HCPU

ok...made a mount for rear of the 130 tub.

Antenna came with a bracket that allows the antenna to be folded. but the bracket has a bit of play in it and the antenna has a wobble which I will need to fix.

    Thanks

    Hi Andrew

    Nice looking mount!

Just a couple of other things. What is the black box underneath?

I'd be unstalling a security retainer device that can't be accessed by bolt cutters or hack saws. People seem to like collecting 9350s.

    Hi Diana

Thanks! The mount is 5mm Stainless steel plate.

The black box is a "can't bend 'em fold 'em" folding antenna mount. made by www.pefabrication.com.au

It allows the antenna to be folded down. It came with the antenna.

It works well, but has some play in the holes and therefore the antenna wobbles slightly. I need to look at this further to work out a way to stop the wobble. Also will look at added security - I currently have it padlocked.

    Cheers

My autotune is mounted on the bullbar and I spent 4 weeks recently in SA. I must have been lucky

I am fabricating a bracket though, to move it to the right rear.

There probably weren't too many law enforcement officers in the area you were travelling through though Numpty.

Small update...I have removed the "can't bend em fold em" folding antenna mount. There was too much play in the hinge pin and after some custom fab work, I still had a bit of movement. So i have binned it and will just have to mount the antenna when going on a trip as I will not be able to fit the truck in my garage with it fitted. This will definately lessen the chance of theft!

    Such is life.....
