UHF & Antenna installations on D3

    Hi All,

I'm looking for some idea's on how and where to mount the Antenna and UHF on my D3. I Have a Uniden UH015sx fitted in my D1 and found the remote face enabled me to mount it nicely. I'm think the same model could be mounted between the two 12v sockets at the bottom centre of the dash, but would like to look at other options.
The Antenna mounting is more of a worry as I want to keep the standard front bumper for now and don't want to drill holes. I realise brackets are available, but would like to see pictures of how others have solved this problem.

    Please post your pics!!
    Thanks in advance!

I have got a photo handy however it is very similar to a mobile phone antenna.
Was supplied with two whips one for high speed (150mm - short) & one for low speed ( 600mm - long) i.e. when out bush.
I have found it to be satisfactory especially as I really only use it when travelling in convoy on trips.

I got mine from time Plus Communication in Brunswick Victoria.

These people have a pretty good reputation in the 4WD community.

Cost was approximately $120 & includes the cable etc for inside the car.

I do not yet have a bull bar & some of the other solutions had not been discussed on this forum when I bought mine.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards

    Chuck

I fitted my antenna by modifying a standard Z-Bracket. I have a GME radio with remote controls in the microphone. The radio is mounted in the driver's foot-well above the sound-deadening material and lead comes out to my trailer brake controller. Only plug it in when I need it. Couple of photos attached.

    Cheers

There are two makes of bootlip mounts that mount neatly on the trailing edge of the bonnet. Diamond and Benelec. Available in all good CB or Amateur radio stores. They can be mounted near the outer side out of view. They take the standard PL ground plane free antennas , are sufficiently clear of the turret for good radiation, and the 6db antennas do not foul in covered 2m carparks. They can be sloped out of harm's way when pressing through scrub.
