I'm aware its possible to put the 2.7L snorkel on the 4L and that Bruce Davis have done it before but I'd just like to see if anyone know the real reason.

Maybe its commercial reasons? Maybe nobody has offered up their 4L D3 for Safari to do some R&D on?

Just for clarity, please make it clear if your speculating or guessing the reason or if you actually know.
Try getting accessories for the D3s little brother - the RRS. None existant yet with slight modification may D3 bits will fit a RRS - but not where certification is required like Bull Bars.

What's the difference between the Petrol V6 and the V8? Anyone have any pictures?

I tried calling Safari again but this time not letting on so quickly that I was a customer looking to buy a snorkel.

Thankfully, I got someone who was very helpful who confirmed that the V6 Petrol never came up as an engine for Safari to sell a snorkel for.

So there is no known technical reason from Safari's point of view. Given that the 4L isn't sold any more its unlikely that we will get a snorkel however.

I then called ARB to see if they had installed the 2.7L snorkel on a 4L but while the guy was really helpful he was unaware of anyone at ARB who had done so.

So - I'm going to take a chance and buy the 2.7 snorkel and see how it goes on the mighty 4L V6 Petrol.

If by chance the snorkel can't provide enough air flow then I'll make up a way to disconnect the snorkel easily for normal driving and only connect when needed.

IIRC, it is just a 80mm hose fitted from body of Safari snorkel to the elbow on the air box. I reckon it is a safe bet that the TDV6 one will fit.

Interesting that they won't quote on something that they've apparently done before..... That's a shame.

I have a contact at ARB on another forum I'm on, so I'll see if he can suss this out for us, too..

Yeah, it might come to that, yet... It would be nice to find someone who'd done it before, though. Id rather my car not be the guinea pig...

The air intake is the same on the drivers side is it not? The most fiddle will be maybe a few trips to the exhaust shop for some custom pipe work if needed.

No need for fabrication - 80mm plastic pipes are available from Autobarn and others. 2 jubilee clamps to both ends and job's done. I don't understand all the dramas.
