Show us the antennas on your D4/D3

I am just about to buy some antennas for the UHF and phone on my D4. The car is white the bar is black but the colour for the antenna is difficult.

    So the questions are:
    • is what do a pair of antennas look like on your D4 or D3?
    • what brand do you have and why that brand?
    • which model if there is a selection?

BTW: I am looking at RFI, Mobile One or GME antennas.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Doesn't the phone antenna go in the middle back of the roof, that black square thingy.

My UHF antenna is a AE4703 6.6dbI in white, this is a match for the 3540 GME UHF(4.5dB IN THE OLD SCALE) is on our Opposite Lock bar, the bracket is right at the end of the bar.

Oh if you buy the latest ARB 4x4 Action mag, the one with the Ford Ranger, this photo is in there, odd seeing we are kitted out with Opposite Lock gear, it's the High Country Hut story

First thing is that current phone signals are vertically polarised so the receiver antenna should also be vertically polarised and why I was looking at a stick. (BTW with the rollout of MIMO in 4G I dont think I'll be aligning one antenna at 45 deg and the other at 135 degree on a rotator to match the polarity and direction of the signals )

My other thought was for one of the RFI shark fin TLA4200, which operate as both a 6dBi antenna in 4G and a 28dBi GPS antenna, but not convinced about drilling holes in the roof.

Could you make the shark fin fit in the factory position on the roof just forward of the tailgate?
I've got a benelec 9db UHF aerial and a 6DB fibreglass one for touring when I dont have to worry about banging it on garages.
If you have an ARB bar the stock mounting points are worse than useless on the main bar. I made up a piece of pipe that mounts to the factory hole and lifts the base of the aerial level with the to bar on the bullbar. Made a substantial difference to reception.

I didn't realise there was already a hole in the roof for the phone GPS stuff. Will have to measure the actual height of the car park entry at work.

Still wondering about a white UHF against a white car and whether it would be too much. (I also have a multitap and Codan 9350 which are black but the 9323 isn't installed.)

Tending towards RFI for this car, I have Mobile one antennas on the RRc but one got damaged and I thought a little too easily am interested in reports if RFI or GME were more resistant to damage.

My bar is Oposite Lock and has the same holes as the ARB bar but also 3 antenna mounts on the upper pipework. Have no idea why ARB couldn't do the same, was a major part of the reason I went to OL.

As I said, I didn't realise there was a plastic cover on the roof, it makes a significant difference to the decision of whether to use a roofmount or end-fed vertical whip for the phone. All I need to know now is whether the wiring is in the harness or not.
