I have just had an ARB winch bar fitted a couple of weeks ago. I ordered it at the end of March; a couple of weeks after picking up the car, and I ordered a non winch bar. I was later told the winch bar was in stock now and the non winch was on backorder.
I therefor paid the extra coin and had it fitted a few weeks later when I got back home. I added in some Lightforce 250 35W HID as well. I also had a cargo barrier fitted at the same time.
We had planned a Snowy Mountain trip and then through Bright to Melbourne and had a short time frame due work. SWMBO would not do the trip without the bar fitted as a few years ago near Cooma a roo committed suicide on the front of our brand new VW Golf and did a lot of damage. Hence I took the winch bar when offered.
Since having it fitted I have not done very much gravel road travel, but have noticed it moves a lot less than the bar on the Patrol so maybe the clearances the installer gave were generous. I have not noticed any different noise from it as the only change is the slight hum from the Coopers.
    Graeme, (another one)

Hi Billy, I've checked this out and there hasn't been any changes to the D4 bar in terms of infill panels under the headlights. The photos in the fitting instructions that have been linked to are how the finished install should look.

The vehicle in Flickr is not one of ours and it appears that the owner has modified the bar/fitting themselves to reduce the gap under the wheel arch and under the headlights.

There does need to be a small gap to allow for movement in off road situations as others have mentioned.

This bar has now also been approved for fitment to HSE models and the website is being updated to reflect this.

    Cheers, Sam.

    Ty Sam,

Will be placing my order soon. I know these can be a challenging bar to install and want to find a ARB that has had experience fitting them before and will provide a quality install!

    Cheers

Finally had my ARB bar fitted this week and spent today wiring in the lights. Very happy.

The bar was installed at ARB Kilsyth, Vic.

    ARB Gap under lights

Clark Rubber has some D shaped rubber trim that I used to fill the gap under the headlights. You can slide it over the back edge of the bar and the rubber D part of the mould fills the gap. Its rubber and allows any movement required. I fitted it after the bar was fitted with not that much skin taken of the knuckles. Been there two years now with no issues. I have alway had a plan to use the same stuff to do the little gap where the guard is cut but have not go around to that yet, but think it would work. You can see it here.

    Pinchweld with Side Blister

This is the stuff from Clark Rubber. Looks like its call Pinchweld. The U shaped bit with barbs slips over the back edge of the bar and the rubber O bit fills the gap. I think I used the first one shown on the page
