Hi Zilch
I think they are 55's not 50's and have a look at the cooper Zeon LTZ's, they are a bit stronger in the side wall. I have them on my D4 and are very happy with them.
Cheers

For the trip up noorrrfff as we say in the UK, but in this case Cape York, i have a choice of Pirelli Scorpion or General Grabber 255/50/R19 ATR tyres. About 30 bucks difference per corner, Pirelli's being more expensive.. from a wear and tear perspective, the Cape trip and easy to live with in terms of every day driving what would best
Cheers

I run the Scorpions, have done for the last 3 sets of tyres (in 255/55/19 Disco size)
Pros: Quiet on road, no noticeable increase in fuel use, last anything from 60-100k depending on use (I still have 2 as spares with 5mm of tread after 65k miles, not kilometres of motorway use for example), survived the Oodnadatta track 2 weeks ago without damage and performed very well with only 6mm of tread left.
Cons: a bit dearer than the rest (but make up for that with longevity IMO), crap in mud as the tread block is tighter than any other, get a little slippery on damp roads at about the 5-6mm tread depth mark.
I run them as my only tyres and I'm loathed to try other tyres as my experience with these has generally been positive. Perhaps if I was heading somewhere with high likelihood of lots of mud, I'd look for something more aggressive but cheaper, like the Cooper LTZ. It's a shame Bridgestone don't make the D697 in this size otherwise I'd give them a go, such is the good vibe put out by those using them.

I would get the Cooper Zeon LTZ's they are slightly bigger being 55 profile.
Got them on my D4 & very happy.
Had to remove GG AT's due to annoying harmonic vibration noise.
Cheers
