On my MY14 (apr build, poverty pack) the camera also zooms in to the tow ball when within 1 meter of the trailer. Also the guide lines can be changed to single centre line to guide you on to the trailer. What type of lines you use is changed on the screen.

    Thanks Chris,

The camera I have is LR043493. I did read somewhere too that this application - rear view only - requires only the analogue camera and there is a different camera required for tow assist- presumably with the canbus interface.

Re the yellow guide lines requiring canbus, based on the disco3.co.uk efforts, and the info I've posted above, it doesn't seem so. I can't verify this yet and of course your experience does not reflect this either.

The MY12 manual I have also states:

The reversing-aid graphics can be disabled in the settings menu or by touching the TSD whilst reverse gear is selected and the camera view is displayed.

Do you think there's any possibility your yellow lines have been inadvertently turned off?

I'll dig around a bit more and see how I go.

That's interesting David, I hadn't considered that the CANBUS was not used for the reversing camera but was only used with the surround camera system?

Here is a quote from the MY14 TOPIx on the rear camera.
...The RVC (rear view camera) is located in the tailgate external handle.

The RVC is a VGA (video graphics array) resolution analogue camera that provides an image covering a zone approximately 130? wide by 112? deep and is capable of capturing approximately thirty frames per second. An electrical connector on the camera provides power, ground, MS (medium speed) CAN bus and shielded co-axial cable connections. The co-axial cable connection is used for video image transmission between the camera and the TS (touch screen).

The camera provides additional information to the driver when reversing the vehicle. When reverse gear is selected the camera automatically displays a wide-angle colour image of the view from the rear of the vehicle on the TS. Overlay graphics are displayed by a combination of signals received on the MS CAN by the TS.
The positioning accuracy of the camera is crucial for successful operation, therefore care must be taken when installing a cameras to ensure it sits correctly in the bracket. In the event of camera replacement, a calibration routine must be performed...

So yes the camera is analog, I presume that is why I have got a generic camera to work. Might be time to go sifting in the CCF again....

Thanks Chris. Good luck with the CCF. I'll see if I can dig it out tomorrow but I do recall mention in the disco3 thread that they did have to make updates for the camera in a few places, a couple not obvious.

The CCF needs to be changed in two or three locations to enable the rear camera. I'll review this to see if I can find any more.

Found what I mentioned - not sure if useful or not: Fixed it.... Rear Camera now working, it was a very basic error. I did not realise there are two settings to activate the parking rear camera needed in the MY12 car!!, there is a setting in the main CCF File and there is also a setting in the EUCD CCF file. In fact, its exactly the same requirement to activate the timed climate etc... I had only activated the main CCF file.. Grant thought that the activation was the issue

    Front video cable in

Re the CCF settings, I just went through the Disco3 thread again and one of the successful installers there stated this:

"There are two settings to change.

    Park assist
    camera
    And
    Parking
    camera

Check you have activated both with the Faultmate.
    "

If those settings are already updated then not sure where to go next.

I put the front Fakra cable in over the weekend and I'm thinking I'll update the CCF (it's my first effort with the Nanocom so I'm taking it slow) and just pull the head lining and plug in the camera video feed and power before I fit all the looms.

I'll update with a result when I try this.

    Hi David.
If you are using Nanocom/Genesis to edit your CCF, it has a feature to compare your CCF against another or a vehicle VIN. I'll PM you a CCF from my vehicle so you can directly see the items I edited.

    Thanks Chris,

I'm just getting sorted with the Nanocom - can't get it to read my car yet but it's probably something I've done wrong or haven't done. Working through the setup again.

    Nanocom returned for investigation

My Nanocom couldn't come to amicable terms with my car, even with excellent support from BBS including a new firmware version to try, so it's gone back to them for investigation, so I'm at a bit of a stop for now.

Wondering if I plug the camera into the rear headlining loom (without fitting any of the new bits properly) if I'll be able to check my front connections by accessing the camera video feed from the secret screen? Not sure.
