    Basic service advice

    Hi all;
Landrover official service intervals on my 2010 3.0L D4 diesel are 26000km/yearly, but most recommend more often for oil etc. I'm looking at doing services myself and all minor services apparantly should include oil, oil filter; air filter; cabin filter, and fuel filter. I'm about to order parts from uk.. My question is; do all these parts need changing this often? Surely say fuel filter can be blown out to 26000 but perhaps do all the others every 13000?

I would do the oil only, and check the air filter,if it is not dusty, just leave it.

Forget the fuel filter unless you have real reason to change it,and the cabin filter,if it is not dirty leave it as well.

    Thanks scarry
    Any other thoughts from anyone?
And can anyone confirm that it's good to do these 13000 oil changes rather than he official 26000?

Where did you get the definitions of an A and a B service (not saying you're wrong, but trying to find them myself)? My handbooks don't define them and I have been unable to find definitions on this site.

    Word of mouth really..
This website is helpful, but sticks to the long 26000 intervals so doesn't help answer my questions..

Oil and oil filter every 13000 would be fine. Fuel filter every 40,000 would be my recommendation. Checked the air filter every service and replace when required, if your doing only bitumen work you should get an easy 100k out of one. Cabin filter I'd only bother replacing if needed or every couple of years.

    Dirty Hands

I concur with shanegtr re intervals for oil, oil filter etc. My D4 came on the corporate purchase arrangement and LR were servicing the vehicle at 13000km intervals and I have kept this up since. I have changed the fuel filter twice in the life of the vehicle. one at around 55000km and the last one at 115000km. Oh and the auto trans fluid was partially drained at around 45000 and again at 85000km both times to gauge the quality of the fluid. I (my service agent) replaced the fluid totally along with the filter and pan at approx. 95000km.

    Cheers guys.
Which d4 do you have requiring the auto transmission oil change? My 3.0 according to LR is a sealed system and doesn't require changes.. However my local independent is a fan of using an after market kit and changibg it out every 120k Kms or so..

Your indie is right....but maybe more frequently. LR dealers also recommend more frequently and replaced with a steel pan to reduce costs next time.

I did mine at 60k, and will keep doing it at that.

My touareg with the same transmission was replaced at 120k....even though the oil test showed there was absolutely no need.

A search will confirm that it's not sealed for life....advertising ploy for lower running costs by LR. ZF state every 80-100k or less.

    Brett...

    What he said^^^^^^^^

Also my indi advises the following for D3/4 and RRS diesels

Engine oil and filter every 12K
Front and rear diffs every 40K
    Transfer case every 60K
    Auto every 80k,if towing 40k
    Brake fluid 40K
Coolant flush every 5yrs and replace cross over pipe(what ever that is?)
    Fuel filter every 24K
    Pollen filter every 24K
Handbrake clean and adjust every 24K
    Timing belts every 160K.

Heavy off road work these may have to be done more often.
