It can cause your stereo controls to cease to work as well. But if they are telling the dealer to replace you may as well let them.

So it's a Service Action now. It's quite a common replacement for various reasons (radio controls as above but also cruise control issues).

I had this fault a few years back.

It took 3 visits to determine the fault

Had mine in having some work done the other day.

This issue was fixed under warranty with no questions asked.
