congrats on the purchase! I know what you mean about the camel cut. I've been trying to find some more info on it this past week as well, but searching hasn't given me many results. This page is probably the best one so far. Pretty good guide on how to do the basic trim Trimming for tires |

Congratulations. Look forward to following the build. What I found with the camel cut was to measure about 6cm back from the bottom edge and get some tape and mark a straight line up until it meets the curve for a nice ark. Use a fine cutting disk in an angle grinder and keep a steady hand. Sounds scary but really a piece of cake.

While on the topic of mods anyone know a good place to get a suspension lift fitted in sydney where they are familiar with Disco's? Would it be better to source the parts elsewhere such as a kit from SuspensionStuff or just get the mechanics to fit their recommended brand? traveling isn't an issue for me but the right parts and service at the right price are. If needs be i'll travel further a field to the outskirts of sydney. Some questions I know but I want to get it right the first time. Thanks |

Thanks for the welcome guys, in the next few day's i'll post up some pics of my new toy as is when bought and then with updates as the vision unfolds. Although this will be restricted by budget as we all know.
I've sourced what I think will be a pretty good suspension lift from Ultimate Suspension in Ingleburn just south of Liverpool. I'm no ace mechanic at the moment though eager to learn so i'm happy to pay a few bucks to have some things installed at this time (no room in the garage either full of reno stuff) Anyway $1200 for a 2 inch lift with HD springs seems to be pretty good, $95 for brand new black steelies, $290 a tyre fitted and balanced for BFG muddies in 245/75/R16 should sit fairly nicely underneath, not going to big for now ![]() Already loving the little quirks of the car and i'm sure there are more to come. ![]() I think that is a good start. Also if the springs are a bit old your 2 inch will probably equate to 3" (ie: 1" of sag on old springs.).
