Floppy Mirror :(

Yes...on a hot day the rear view mirror of Kim's car heads south

Now it's clearly a wear + expansion of the plastic issue, but has anyone found a solution to this?
Obviously the plastic 'socket' of the ball & socket on the mirror expands more quickly and to a greater extent than the metal 'ball'...providing a great view of the centre console
