No. You need a lift and at least a bit of trimming for those to fit.
They're quite a step up from standard. Even the next size up from standard (235/70/16 to 245/70/16) often needs a camel cut.
will 235/85/16 fit on standard disco steel rims with no mods?
I want somthing a bit taller for under diff clearance.
thanks

I have 235/85R16 under my D1. They are BFG M/T's and I did have to do a bit of work to get them in. I also have a (sagged) 2" lift. The great thing is that because they are narrow they tuck inside the guard when flexing. I think this size is a better choice than a wider but not as tall 31x10.5R15
I have done a small camel to the rear. I had to wind one steering bump stop out a couple of turns, it only touched very slightly when turning left and was fine when turning right.
Lastly, when the rear suspension is fully compressed the tyre touches the plate at the inside the guard at the rear. This plate looks to be there to protect the fuel filler pipe. I took this out on both sides and reshaped it slightly.
Now perfect!
Speedo reads about 5% under and hill starts fully loaded or towing are a bit tricky in high range.
they'll fit on the rims fine, but they wont go under the gaurds without some trimming, particularly behind the rear wheels.
