    Isuzu'ed Disco...........

    Having put together a bolt-in kit to replace the LT85 with an Isuzu MSA gearbox behind the Isuzu 4BD1 in the 110 'County' and with some request/queries, I decided to do some maths;

    A very driveable, comfortable and reliable vehicle

    The hi/lo/diff lock lever is in front of the main gear lever in the Disco where as the 110's it is the other way around. So the plan is to make a kit to put all the levers in the original Disco positions. See how we go...

    Excellent, I was hoping you'd be doing a "short stick" version of your gear lever kit. I plan to swap to a later body on my RRC at some stage and will need such a product.

    Appears to be more room in the Disco tunnel than the 110/Defenders... which is nice

    Parts getting laser cut now....

    Contemplating this swap into a (gasp!) Land Cruiser. Following both threads with interest!

    What's the go with a diesel from an emissions point of view? Does the engine need to be of the same age as the car or newer? Or can diesels be older?

    Have always been curious about this swap but always thought it wouldn't be possible due to the age of the motors???

    The 4BD1T was used in trucks until early-mid 90's.
    The 300Tdi (which is essentially the same from an emissions perspective) was fitted until 1999.

    So you should be permitted to convert a D1 or 300Tdi Defender - as a few people have done.

    A D2 may be a different matter, however there is a very nice D2 in the US with a 4BD1T.

    Some clearance is needed with some trimming of the tunnel.

    It requires a little more than shown in the pic. That's what the red lines are showing approximately where needs to be trimmed too.
