RICH AS BLAZERS ,, NOT ME THE DISCO

G'day ...... Can anyone help, my '96 V8 disco burns fuel like it cost nothing.
The plugs are new and black. Can anybody give me a step by step instructions on how to adjust the Air Flow Meter ( the one with the big electrical plug). I think you have to take current readings with a meter at which of the four wires in the plug?? and what is the meter reading that tells you how much to turn the mixture adjustment allan/key to hopefully fix or improve my guzzling problems.
    Hope someone can help please.

    Thanks Shepherd

Check that the IAC valve on the back of the manifold plenum is tight, (3 allen head bolts), if tight remove and clean carbon build up on cone shaped plunger and the seat that it (supposed to) seals in the plenum, also check the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure reg. has no fuel in it and that it holds a vacuum, suck it and see, if all that checks out then fiddle with the MAF, Regards Frank.

Frank, or indeed anybody thats been in this spot, to get at the IAC valve would it be easier to pull the plenum chamber right off motor to get at IAC valve OR would i be running into a mob of trouble going that way??? There is not room to get at it while it's still in the vehicle...... Regards.. John

I think this topic comes up about once a week.
    Check
The fuel pressure reg and vacuum hose
ECU temp sender on the front of the manifold
MAF actually working, disconnect and see if it makes any difference
    Tune resistor near the ECU.
Look a bit in here, Dougal had done just about all of it.

Should be enough room, I have done it numerous times without a hassle, it should have 3 allen head bolts holding the valve body to the plenum.
Fairly easy to get at, remove rubber hoses and wiring plug first, then remove valve, good luck, regards frank.

The vacuum bleed for the distributer advance is sited just behind the throttle valve body, not on the plenum itself, Regards Frank.
