    Just a thought
    People say 33" tires
Maybe try real 33" not metric size.
    Ie 33x10.5x16 close to 265x80x16
    Or 33x12.5 /315x80x16
You can get tge height without the width.

Does anyone know a good place to get cheap wheel nuts to suit steel rims? Or am i better off just going to a nut and bolt place?

I've been quoted $75 for 16x8 - 25mm offset rims and $260 for some General Grabber Muddies 265/75-16. Which my tyre guy swears by are on par with coopers.

Try one of our resident vendors, roverlord etc.

The nuts for alloy rims should do the job, but look silly

That's what i thought. I can get maxxis big horns for $290 a tyre so im thinking just spend the extra little bit to get maxxis because i've seen a lot more people running these and i've never heard of the General Grabber brand.

GC are made by BFG/ MICHELIN so nothing wrong with them , i'm running Nexen muddies and so far been good.

Hi guys haven't been on here for a bit but thought I would add what worked well for me. Federal Couragia m/t's 285/75R16 ($208 each) on dynamic 16x8 0 degree offset steel rims ($110 each). Running a 2 inch lift, guards cut with flares fitted. Then to get rid of the rubbing I had to trim the bull bar, remove cut/weld/bend the inner rear guard plates (away from tyre instead of towards as is factory). I also have re geared the diffs with 4.11 crown wheels and pinions while fitting twin lockers. I should also say it was a 3.9L V8 with an auto.

Unfortunately I wrote this off Australia Day weekend so have to start again but will go with the same set up on my recent purchase (after more hard work) as it worked well on the tracks and just flexed and climbed as required.

Hey damo79, bit off topic, what brand roof basket were you running? Was a nice looking D1, hope your new one is at least as good.

Hi Pete, that was an arb half rack. I loved the look of it but changed to a full size rack during the Xmas break as to give some extra space.
Looking forward to building her replacement although she never let me down (until the brakes failed and a tree seemed the only suitable replacement). Heading down the 300tdi path this time.

So i fitted the front flares!!

Now a question about the rears!? IS there anyone with a 5 door who has fitted flares or now where abouts to cut/screw?

Since the door is so thick, im a little un sure of what to do and where about to cut? I want to get the guards as high as possible but the higher i go the more i have to cut off the doors. I know that i have to move the seal and thats not an issue im more worried about the large gab in my door if i cut heaps off. Any thoughts or advice will be grateful!

Here is a rough guide to what i thought would be a good place to put them. red being the higher up and blue being lower. This is the trickiest bit of the entire fitment.
Any way i fit the flares the bottem of them will not reach the bottem of the door, im not sure if this is the case with other brands of flares but it is with mine.

THe inside of the door is easy to cut i just have to move the door seals once im donr.
