Fuel filter saver

I do not know if this idea have been posted before in the forum, so I place it here for the Discologist interested in saving dough and at the same time be sure that the fuel system is kept spot on.
The only thing required is getting a longer bolt for the water trap at the back of the beast and fit a Ryco R2132P or Cav Delphi 296 and presto, the life of the main filter is more that double.
I have this filter system for the last 70.000 kls and all is running smooth.

They're a wonderful thing, but 70kKm sounds like a long time between $5 filters, even I'm not that cheap.

Sorry Simon, I should re editing the post, what I mean was the system for 70.000 km. I replaced the main filter twice and the small filter 3 times in the 70000 kls.

Those filters are farily pricey arnt they?

I know the ones on my machines that are similar are about $80 each for the element, if they are less than that I would be happy to convert all of them to this system.

The main filter is only around the $25 mark in Balwin equivelent and I only ever change it when I start having starvation problems so it so far is about 25000kms on this one so far.

It all depends on where you get your fuel and if you keep drums or jerries etc and if you have problems with water, snot or fungle growth to how often you need to change the fuel filter.

The 296 filter should be one of the cheapest around!!!!!!
Real common on farm/construction/mining gear,if they are dear they are ripping you off.More common than a ford or holden 6 oil filter!!!!!

So is that the same as say the fuel filter on a MF135 tractor or the like then?

I cant think of what filter it is that we have to use but it is only available in 1 brand and 3 of my machines run them.

I have had prices from 4 different suppliers and all only a few dollars apart including OEM.

The R2132P cost $ 8.00 and if you like you change the main filter every 35.000 km or even more. I never have problems with the main filter replacing the R2132P, then again the Ryco never clogged up so you never know Change the main filter every 40,000 K ?
I opened the main filter after 35000 km and I can not see anything wrong with it.

Last week I paid $6.50 for a Sakura version of the 2132P, normally referred to as a CAV filter. My 110 had the modification referred to when I bought it, and the same filter fits my tractor. They are one of the cheapest filters you can get, and are available anywhere.

I agree with you and perhaps for the people that going bush or far away places the issue that are available anywhere is perhaps more important than the cost factor. I am happy with my setup

I've fitted a few of these to 110's and 130's without the water seperator. (Most Early 200Tdi 110's and 130's up to 1994 MA series etc had no moisture trap, only a filter in engine compartment)

It is about $70 to $90 for the whole set up, and filters are about $8 each from then on. The ones I use have a glass lower bowl too.

Great idea these.
