Urgent help with noise

I just got into my wifes 97 Disco this morning and when I turned the ignition on I got this high pitched "beeping" type noise. Not so much a beeping more a squeel. Like a warning noise or something.

Anyways started the Disco and kept going so parked it and took other car. Any ideas what it is..... Wife has NFI.

First thing that springs to mind is an after market over temp alarm on the radiator if one's been fitted.

I can't think of anything apart from the alarm that would give a beeping noise.

Its a V8. The noise keeps going when engine is running, havnt warmed it up though. Its very high pitched. Louder than the headlight warning.

Have you tried tracking the noise to an area in the car.

A funny thing was happening to me a few months ago.

Every time I went around a right hand corner I could hear a faint beep, really high pitched but I couldnt get it to do it anywhere other than a few corners so I had to get Mrs Mc to drive while I moved around the car tracking it down.

It was a maccas toy wedged under the drivers seat.......

If you can isolate where it is coming from we may have a better chance of helping you diagnose the problem.

If it were a relay though it could be a dodgy body/chassis/engine earth, that can make things do dodgy stuff.

Ok everything solved. The noise was coming out of a film canister with wires and a sticker on it for Aqualert Low Water Sensors which turns out to be a water level indicator. Topped up water level and noise gone. Man was so high pitched.
