Hub to Wheel arch distances - for measuring lift

    Hey all,

Once and for all i want to properly measure up my suspension and see if there is any lift over standard.
When i bought it, it came with aftermarket springs/shocks. i understand this was done more to compensate for the extra weight of accessories though, but believe it may be lifted slightly.

Anyhoo, i remember browsing a while ago and seeing a diagram/chart for a D1 with measurements from the centre of the hub, to the top of the guard, with various suspension lifts.
I can't for the life of me find this! can't even remember what thread it was in

Any help appreciated! need to know if i should start saving for some new springs and shocks

    Cheers,
    Rob

    This is it:

bump stop clearances or rim/hub to guard measurements

There is another thread by Dullbird (Around 23 July) that also states the Disco h-t-g, in short 460 f and 490 r

Don't get too excited just yet - in the original vsi50 50mm was OK, but it was the bit where they added whatever extra you had in tyre dia as well that was the ugly bit.

Yeah i went on the measurements, 460 front and 490 rear, it kind of scared me a bit at how high my d1 really is

    Vehicle standards information sheets

#50 is what all the hubbub is about - but also read vsi 9 (tyres)

digging up an old thread here, but I finally remembered to park on level ground, so got out and took some measurements.

Measuring centre of hub to the top of the guard i got:
    Front Right - 500mm
    Front Left - 505mm
    Rear Right - 485-490mm
    Rear Left - 495-500mm

So not sure what the previous owner did, as it seems the front has had a 2" lift (springs possibly sagged a bit, no idea how old they are) to accomodate the bar and winch.
And the rear scored aftermarket springs and shocks as well but to standard-ish height.

although the car still sits level, so a fresh 2" lift in the rear would probably give it a hot-rod look

tried to get a happy snap of current height, none of them came out too well.

    Hiya,
I've just installed +2" springs on my truck last week and given it a solid workout today. My measurements are 515 at front and 530 rear. Front springs are heavy duty while rears are standard duty.

    cheers
    Greg
