I'm not sure about the classic rims, but Ron is on the money with the D2/P38 rim being +57mm offset. Although the D2 seems to run more positive offset, bear in mind that the axles are completely different and the D2 track is wider than a classic track because it has a longer axle (WMS-WMS).
+57mm means that the WMS is 57mm towards the outerface of the rim from the centreline, meaning that when the rim is mounted that it is brought in closer to the vehicle. Trends are heading to this type of offest for steering geometry reasons. Many LR aftermarket rims seem to just run a Landcruiser offset (-12.5 to -25mm) or a Patrol offset (0mm). To draw a comparison: D2 with 0 offset rims will increase the track width by 114mm combines or 57mm per side. D2 with +6 offset will increase the track width by 102mm or 51mm per side. Based on your measurements of +30 offset for the D1 D1 with 0 offset rims will increase the track width by 60mm combines or 30mm per side. D1 with +6 offset will increase the track width by 48mm or 24mm per side. |

Sorry to cut in on your thread boxer, but slunnie, i am about to buy some sunnies for my D2 and i am running 33s on the rims, i was just wondering what sort of offset (if any) that i could get away with on them without having to cut the body (i have done the sills and bullbar thing though) the rims will be 16x8.

I am getting some alloy rims from a company near Brisbane that are blanks, so they can machine to the offset you require.
I know that the 18x8J alloys on the D2 right now have a +57mm offset, however can anyone confirm that the 16x8J alloy and the 16x7J steel wheel have the same offset of +57mm. Due to regs in qld you can only change offset by 25mm per side, so I am getting the new rims machined to a +32mm offset.
