NZ 2001 DISCO SEII

I'm new to this Site be kind yet Honest!!
Im a Perth lad born and raised and now living in NZ. The (new) misses bought me here, and to be totally honest, its not that bad a place.
Ok here goes, I started with L/Rovers by rebuilding a 109 Series III from the bum up,, it went anywhere with its new unleaded converted 2.25 Ltr petrol screamer , and high speed diffs, in the end it owed me the Gross domestic profit of a small african nation but "You get that". Moved onto Toyota Prado 99 Snowy V6. I over accessorized it,,then the ex missus wrote it off in anger,, she's now Gone (Woohoo),, "you get that"
Am looking at buying a 2001 Disc SEII V8 AUTO with all the elecetircs (ACE,ABS, blah blah blah) and 65000 K,s yes thats right 65000Ks. $20 Grand Ozzie.Full service history, on road use only , AA full check, and i even checked with his service agent. All checks Out. I am pretty thick skinned, and can take constructive critacism. There are a few Landie fanatics here , but its Japo Import central..Does anyone have thoughts or opinions on this model of Disco, would appreciate some honest advice...... or should i be doing to my self.
Cheers

Dunno what the market is over there mate, but $20K Aussie for an '01 petrol with that many k's on the clock is waaaaay over the top by Aussie market standards.

I'd be thinking somewhere not much more than half that many dollars for one like that.

Don't know how difficult / expensive it is to import one from Aus. You might be better off looking at picking one up in Sydney / Melbourne and shipping it across there if that is any indication of what the prices are like over there.

For $20K you'll pick up a later model TD5 with much lower k's than that if you look around. Mine only had 65,000 k's on the clock when I bought it a few years ago, and I didn't pay too much more than what you've been quoted (and I even bought it from a Landrover Dealer). An equivalent model V8 petrol will always sell for less than a TD5.

Many thanks there BMKal, yeah there is a good market for them over there ,just they are thrashed crashed and bashed to death. Very little after care taken , and info available for that matter. Minimal clubs, etc etc. I have been lookin at them and others for some time incl. 100series, and also late model hilux.
The prob with importing is the Aussie Tax hassles and export duty on pre owned vehicles in oz as well as the import in NZ, Its not as easy at it sounds. Its easier to get a late model Prado D3D imported from japan into NZ, but im not a Jap import Fan.

Many thanks for the Advice though i will take it all onboard.
Cheers

Many thanks Pedro, and my thoughts exactly, have been sifting my way around this website for hours daily , and am very appreciative of your posts etc etc.
Said vehicle will be in the drive way very shortly, am counting the sleeps. Am looking on here for specs on all lubes/ additives/ filters, anything i need. Its an Auto ,on day 2 of owner ship i have the day off and its going to be 6ft in the air on a hoist dumping all existing oils/ liquids/ , full lube and pan gasket service on auto at the ARB dealer up the road. I am just trying to source all required parts and liquids.
Is the a general 2001 Disco SII V8 AUTO products list on this website??

Cheers keep up the good work

Whoops - my bad.

I thought there was an extra zero in the number of k's on the vehicle.

Agree that $20K is probably not a bad price for those k's, even at today's prices. As Pedro has said, you'd be hard pushed to find one with only those k's on it these days - I thought I was lucky finding one with the same k's on it, and I've had mine for about 3 years or more now.

Pity it's not a TD5 though. My previous one was a V8 and I really love the difference in fuel economy.
