Thread: Chimes with ignition?

I get three chimes occasionally with ignition. Think it's letting me know it's detected an ABS/HDC/ETC fault but not one that warrants igniting the three lights....

carjunkieanon,, I'm getting the same 3 chimes on start up as well. Not everytime but every so often cold or hot engine. I have just done the ABS option B "Shuttle valve electric failure" repair and have no more faults on my ABS, so I'm stumped as well. Does anyone have an answer or should I get it to a indy LR guy to test for other faults.

3 chimes on startup is normal.

Turn the ignition ON, wait for all the dash lights to clear (last one out is the seatbelt warning light - oil/charge lights remain ON until engine started) then start the engine, and you should normally get three chimes ... means ALL IS GOOD !

If you don't wait for the dash lights to clear (think of it as a pre-flight check) the chimes don't sound.

Fluids is spot on,normal,although it won't do it every time.

Sounds to me like you have switched on the seatbelt warning chime, although thats done through the BCU not the SLABS, some find it annoying, but I turned mine on to help me remember to wear my blooming seatbelt as I got in a lazy habit of not wearing it.

D2 MY00, mine NEVER chimes before start, even after waiting for dash lights to go out.

Why no chimes at all/ever if three is normal?
