Cheapest, simplest soultion...buy a GPS and use its digital display.
Won't matter what size your wheel / tyre combo, or what pressures or anything else...you will be moving at pretty much whatever it says...
Is there anything that can be done on the Discovery 2 to get the speedometer reading accurately when larger tyres have been fitted?
Can the Nanocom reprogram it or can the speedo sensor gear be changed or ... ?
In every thread that I've read from my searching people just talk about knowing that there speedo is 7km/h out or 10km/h out, but I'd like to get it back to accurate reading.

Are you sure it needs correcting? Most people with Defenders on standard tyres seem to report that their speedo reads around 10% fast. Mine certainly reads 110 when I am doing exactly 100 on the GPS. Fitting the right size larger tyres could eliminate the error so that the speedo was exactly right.
Maybe Disco speedos are more accurate than Defenders.![]()

You'll need a box to intercept and change the speed signal....
On a Defender if you use 255/85 tyres the speedo will be spot on.
Obviously there will be a certain size for Discos that accomplishes teh same thing.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

There was a device available for the D2 to do just what you are asking about.
Use the search function and look for "Truespeed" I think is the item.

Or is it the case that 235/85 gives the same reading as 750x16?
I have 235/85 and my speedo is 10% optimistic.
EDIT
Apparently it was not a good idea reading Vlad's post while still feeling the effects of those drops that opthalmologists put in your eyes to test for glaucoma and other things.
Now that I can see reasonable clearly again, I can see that in view of what Vlad actually typed as opposed to what I thought he typed, my response makes no sense at all.

Thanks.
Here is a link to an installation guide for the Truespeed - www.slunnie.com :: View topic - Truespeed speedo correction installation

Truespeed is the only unit that works, the JayCar ones etc. apparently don't - explained in http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...-ii-disco.html
Dunno...might be missing something in all of this, but this all looks a lot more complex and time consuming, and no less expensive to buy than a simple plug and play GPS. Especially when, ultimately, you can only confirm the correction by comparing to a GPS anyway.
