Question P0600 Serial Communication Link Malfunction Fault

We have the P0600 serial communication link malfunction fault logging constantly on our 1999 Discovery II V8, which is an automatic transmission fault. The confusing thing is that our DII V8 has a manual transmission! We wonder if another ECU has been fitted to the vehicle at some stage. Does anyone know if the ECU's for automatic and manual transmissions are different? LRT

I realise this is old news but for completion of the thread, which I fouond looking to solve my own issues.

The ECU's as a part are different, as they will be "programmed" (at least have the settings set for trans type as well as a dozen different settings) from factory and ordering a replacement from LR will require a VIN so they can set it correctly for your vehicle.

But if swapping locally it is possible with a nanocom to change the trans type setiings in both the ECU and BCU.
