    let the water out

    Hi Matt

    How about first drilling a hole under the body, directly below the door pillar to drain the water out?

    Same hole could then be used to insert a lance into the cavity, to spray some rust convertor.
    I would pull the belt retractor out before doing this.

    Hi Matt

    Bacteria would be the cause of this odour, by getting rid of the water first, should also get rid most of the smell.
    After the bodywork is dry and then you can look out for the way the water had entered in the first place.
    Under the windscreen would be a likely place for water to first get in, check for poorly placed sealant where the body parts are spot welded together, also follow the body frame back towards that point, bearing in mind that the body frame is made of a series of sections that are hollow and tube like.
