Just checking..but you are trying to pull off the cover of just the locking nuts, aren't you? Not all 5?
And the plastic pullers are crap. Even Genuine Land Rover ones break. The best thing is, put a little copper slip on the inside when re-fitting them. If they have corroded on the you have to be pretty brutal with pliers, etc to get them off.
