    Ipod friendly stereo's for D2a

Yo...thats right Stevo has joined the viva la revolution and found out about all this tech stuff of putting tunes onto an iPod. So whilst I am downloading all my cds..........it will soon be time to play them in Smokey. So any suggested stereos that will play the Ipod and ideally still be able to use the steering wheel controls. Thanks in advance,

    Regards

I've got an alpine head unit in mine with hard wired control of the iPod and it's hooked up to he steering wheels with an incartec adaptor, it also has a Bluetooth phone function, so pretty much covers everything I was after. Sounds okay with the standard speakers but could really use a sub, to take he base out of te door speakers and give a less muddy sound.

I think it's a Cde 114 bit and I got it for a steal at $300 as it was end of line, sold have been over $500' easy to fit - a straight plug in apart from needing the steering adaptor.

Have a look at the sony digital media players. I ripped my cd collection a couple of years ago

I've got a DSXS100 installed in my d2, and have been pretty happy with it. The display is fairly bright and can't be changed from blue. I've resorted to using blackout mode which kills the backlighting and display after 10 seconds.

I think if I was buying again that I would have gone for the top of the range model - dsx-s300btx - due to the added bells and whistles and ability to change the display colour.

The tune tray is great as it keeps the iPod hidden away and securely mounted. I have an old iPod that I leave in the head unit and take it out occasionally to change the selection.

    cheers

No CDs, just digital. TBH I couldn't imagine going back to a cd player /stacker.

I've ripped nearly all my CD collection to apple lossless and use a Mac Mini with an audio interface as my main music source, so it's just a simple task to select what I want synced to the iPod.

I got one of these - replaces the 6 CD Changer under the drivers seat, and allows you to control the iPhone/iPod form the steering wheel controls. You can set up 5 or 6 playlists and they become CDs 2-6 (CD1 is the whole list of songs). Plugs into the back of the stereo head and sits in behind the dash. I've got the iPod cable running out from under the handbrake so the phone sits in the centre dash next to the stubby stick. Also charges the iPhone while it plays. You can add a bluetooth stick to it and it doubles as a hands free system.

Has the odd glitch, but I'm pretty happy with it overall.

    Stevo,

You'll need something along the lines of the PAC steering wheel interfaces if you want to retain the remote buttons.

    D2 replacement radio et al

Well if all goes well, I'm blowing the budget tomorrow and getting one of these fitted (single Din of course - and supposed to be the bees knees for D2's).
Includes motorised 7 inch touch screen, Bluetooth, USB, the reversing camera option and retaining steering wheel control, but I passed on the GPS at about $1K extra - and I can play everything from my old C&W CDs to DVDs.
