This has already been mentioned before at some stage, but I thought of it before reading about it. Simply zipping some cable ties on some strategic sump bolt holes stops the gasket from wandering. It has also been mentionned that placing the ties on the transmission end really helps, but this is not possible due to the fact that the end of the sump backs right up on the auto. The pics below worked really well. I tried it once without the ties and it was a real mongrel. Using the ties made it a fairly straight forward job. Note that I have the rear ties on. I quickly removed these straight after I realised they would get lost between the sump and the auto. Place all the bolts in as far as the first two threads and then cut the cable ties with a blade. Continue the tightening sequence. Simple.
