    Harmonic Balancer pulley

I have a noise in the front of the td5.
So far I have rep;aced fan bearing(stuffed) both idler and tension pulley bearings (also stuffed).
Air con good,ps pump replaced 6mths back, alt about 15000 ks back.
Pulley on crankshaft can be moved back and forth quite easily, found a few postings on here re pulley, went to flebay and found new one for $990.00
What is the current thinking about repairing/replacing.?

Also it seems strange to a old bloke used to holden/ford etc that there is a bearing in the balancer/pulley.
    cheers

this should help answer, your question whether you can get away with a new bearing in the pulley or the whole thing needs replacing, depends on the rubber condition i suppose
    Yes they are not cheap,
    Hope this helps

thanks rover, already found that link. Its what led me to the balancer problem.
Just trying to find out if anyone was successful doing the repair and not the replace. Its seems to be a bit over the top paying around 1000 for a new pulley
I have checked two other td5 pulleys, one good and one also crapped out.
Mine has around 230ks,the good one 255ks and the other 190ks,also I have a weeping front seal so may as well pull and check anyway.
    cheers.

    hearing ya,
fair bit involved getting them off to start with, and then on top of that it's recommended to fit a new pulley bolt as well,
So do you just bite the bullet and replace with new and be done with it?
Group buy probably the cheapest option but u then need numbers and everyone is Australia wide also, more freight costs.

    Td5 Pulleys

Td5 pulleys now available from China
Alibaba quotes $30-$80 minimum order 5
So either Landrover or aftermarket suppliers are sourcing them from China

A group buy could be organised
