    broken bonnet cable.

Regarding a locked bonnet , through what ever reason I thought I would give you my 2 bobs worth.
    Happened to me yesterday.
    Here"s how I fixed it.
Go up between radiator and grill with a battery drill (mine is a Festo) and it just got in there with a hole saw about 30 mm.
In the black plastic dust cover under the bonnet lock is a small drain hole.
I used that to center the hole saw. Drill out a hole and then use a pair of cranked Wiss cutters and cut away the plastic till you can remove it . It has three rivets holding it. A flat bladed screwdriver helps to pop the plastic off of these.
Then with the flat blade screwdriver push the small clip with the spring attached to it toward the drivers side of the car. Then you will here that magic CLICK!
You are then back in business.
The plastic is not really much loss. I think it is there to keep dust and mud away from the catch.
I hope this may be of some help to others. Regards Nick.

This seems to be a common problem on D2's, it would be good to have a pictorial on this issue to point other people to. Anyone?
