    Arrow Flatdog Flexi Arches 50mm and 75mm

    Anyone here fitted a set of Flatdog Flexi Arches in either 50mm or 75mm to their Discovery 2? If so, pictures please!

    I'm pretty sure AULRO member CJT fitted some, but changed to fibreglass ones from Les Richmond Automotive.
    Do a search for his D2 build thread in the Gold Coast members section.
    Cheers Dave

    Doesn't say which brand he's used though.

    EDIT: at http://www.aulro.com/afvb/gclro-memb...ts-dii-11.html he says they're Flatdog 75mm and compares them to the Les Richmond Automotive White Tiger flares.

    Not a Disco, but I fitted a set of FlatDog 50mm flares to my Defender.

    Very good quality, much thicker plastic than the other brands, the mouldings were spot on and the fit up was simple.

    If you do go ahead, buy them from the UK and pay the freight. Mine laned and delivered to the door were half the cost of buying local.

    Cheers

    Started with Flatdog and was not happy with them so changed to LRA flares.

    I know 3 people who have fitted flat dog flares to D2 and none were happy with the finished look.
    I like the price of the flat Dog's but I will be buying the Les Richmond flares. They are ridiculously expensive, but they really do look a lot better and I figure after a month or 2 I will have forgotten about the price.

    I had my first offroad weekend away with the new 285/75-16 tyres and they were rubbing on the outside of the guards very badly. I had been hoping I would get away with not cutting guards, but they are going to need a major cut.

    Just my observations and comparison of the Flatdog flares to the LRA flares;
    • They look like what they are, cheap plastic.
    • They stretch around the screw locations.
    • The rear flares have no coverage of the rear door cut.
    • They do not come with any new dust seals for the rear doors.
    • They are smaller than the LRA flares reducing the tyre size able to be used.
    • The piping they supply to go between the flare and door does not sit flush on a D2.
    • They are cheap.
    Now for the LRA flares;
    • They are expensive.
    • They are more robust (however may crack when hit off-road, easy fix with fibreglass).
    • With trimming they follow the body line much better.
    • They cover the hole in the rear door.
    • They come with proper dust seals for the rear door.
    • They look better.
    • I painted mine with flexi primer and bumper satin black so they match the rest of the trim and snorkel.
    • Much easier to modify if required (I cut my rear flares short to match the quarter chop).
    • As they are fibreglass I found they needed a fair amount of trimming to fit nice and flush, meaning they take a long time to fit.
    • And did I mention they are big
    If I think of anything else that I have noticed between the two I will update this post.

    These are just my observations and views, others may have different thoughts...
