Hmm
I'll have to check the one I bought from them. Programmed it up and then put it in the drawer as a spare and forgot about it. Will advise.

I bought a key from and Australia eBay seller earlier in the year and initially it seemed fine. I've since discovered that unless you start the car within a minute or two of unlocking the immobiliser rearms and you have to unlock again before it will start.
I thought to was just me but I recently programmed a key from the same seller for a member and he pm'd saying he had the same issue.
Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this behaviour from these keys. Can't remember the sellers name but the key was roughly $135.
EDIT: From this seller: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Compl...3&cmd=ViewItem

Mine is a spare too, and it wasn't until I picked it up instead of the original key one that I found that it required an unlock.
I've cracked open the case and the PC boards look almost identical - the ebay key is missing at least 6 components compared with my other key. The case moulding on the new one is a bit sub standard compared to the old one - the clips in the case don't hold the circuit board in place on the new one for example.
My original key has a production date 6 months later than the eBay key. 27/7/08 vs 17/01/08.
Perhaps they are New Old Stock but it seems a bit odd…
The other difference is the new key as an NXP branded RFID transponder mounted in the case whereas my old key doesn't. The space is there for it but it's not present.
They look something like this:

May not be relevant, but a few years ago Falcons would do the same thing, albeit I think it may have been a slightly longer interval before auto relocking, if you hadn't opened a door.

Your on the money, bought same key and thought it was the car playing up until this post, now makes sense, there had to be a catch for the cheaper price, i offered him $120 and bought at that price instead if i recall correctly, shame and annoying
Yes I get the same behaviour, but there is a wrinkle.
Behaviour with normal Key:
- Unlock but don't open door. light in dash board stays off.
- Unlock and open door but don't start car. After a couple of minutes light comes on again, slow flash.
- In either case car starts normally when started.
Behaviour with eBay key
- Unlock but don't open door. Light in dash board stays off. Car still starts normally.
- Unlock and open door but don't start car. After a couple of minutes light comes on again, slow flash. Try to start, car doesn't start, dash light lit solid. Need to press unlock button again, then starts.
Looks like its missing something to reset the immobiliser if it passively arms.
Aside of this Paul have you had any problems?
ATM I can live with it now I know.
Cheers

yes most noticeable for me is when at the petrol station, you get out usually sometimes leave the key in car whilst filling up by the time you return from the shop to start have to re do the alarm whilst in the car which must look strange to others outside. more of a nuisance then anything else. interesting topic. thx
Sounds like what rave calls passive immobilization. This can be turned off in the BCU.
