    Drying Carpet's

So over the break while camping I went to town for a supply run. Threw the water drum in to fill it up. On the drive home I realised I had been absentminded and not secured the water drum, and it fell over and snapped the tap off, spilling roughly 15L of water into the rear passenger footwell.

    Disaster.

Has anyone had a similar problem and have any advice on drying the carpets? I already had the rear seats out (for more cargo room) so have pulled the carpet behind the front seats up and have it propped up airing out, and have got spacers under the front carpet so there is airflow, however it is still sopping wet after a few hot days.

How much of a headache is taking the carpet in the front out to dry? Anyone done it?

    borrow a carpet shampooer.
use it to suck the carpets to a 90% dry condition.

i have one and used it to wash my car carpets and it leaves it 90% dry.
warm weather takes care of the rest

This happened to me while on my Cape York Trip. I did the same, aired it out each night with spacers. During the day while travelling i put cheap disposable nappies under the carpet to soak up the water.

Alternatively you could find as many silica packs as you can and put them under the carpet. this should work a treat. I just don't know where to buy them, in case you are not sure what i'm referring to, silica packs are the small normally white packets you find in boxes of stuff you get. There are designed to absorb moisture.

It is best to clean the entire carpet area so it is evenly wet.], and allowed to dry out. If only part of the carpet is wet and the rest is dry then you will have a water mark stain, same if cloth seats are stained, best to clean whole seat to avoid those stain rings.
    Cheers,
