Rear Cones on a D2, has anyone tried it..?

    Hi all
Just out of curiousity, has anyone tried fitting rear dislocation cones to a D2. I take it you'd have to mod the Watt's linkages a fair bit and extend the abs/brake lines, maybe play around with the swaybar too.
    Looking forward to your replies.

The Watts link is what stops the travel in a D2, and to get the travel to warrant cones, you need modify it before anything.

To add to this, the radius arm setup increases in roll resistance when articulating which would probably make the cones useless even if you do run a cranked watts linkage.

Does the cranked watts linkage really give you any more articulation though?

It will allow you to setup for more travel, and more travel allows you to gain more articulation, except due the radius arms wont allow the high levels of travel that the A-frames used on other rovers will allow.

You'll notice that people never seem to run dislocation cones on their front suspension, or get really good travel either. This is because most fronts are setup with radius arms. The D2 has these front and rear, and I suspect the reasoning is to better balance the suspension articulation from front to rear rather than only making one end of the vehicle work.

    Hi Slunnie,
What is a "Cranked Watts linkage"?

    Gday Rudolf,

Cranked is just deliberately bent. These are cranked watts linkages from Rovertym which will allowe greater suspension travel in comparison to standard.
