			Buying a D2

					Hi,
Looking at buying my first D2. it's 2004 XS model with 105k. TD5 Manual.
However no owners manual (log book yes with fsh)

 thus have a few questions.
 1. air suspension. how do I test that this works. must i be in the car, engine running, door closed?. what to look out for.
 2. it has a leak in the sunroof when it rains. suspect (rather hope) the drain pipe is loose or disconnected - any easy way to check this?

other probs i have noted - back door lock not 100% functioning and driver elec window not fully functioning either..(common problems i believe) it is due to be corrected prior to purchase.

other than that all in good nick.. touch wood.
 thansk in advance.
 anton

Sorry I can't help you with the sun roof leak problem but with the SLS just sit in the car with it running push on the SLS button until the light on the dash comes on and it chimes let it go and watch your bonnet start to drop down as your arse gets higher. If you step out of the car it is very noticeable when the rear is jacked up.
It will bleed air though as soon as you step out which you will hear as a hiss and the car will drop down, the first time you hear it you think 'bugger the air suspension is stuffed' but in fact its only self levelling.

Its not that expensive to replace the air bags if and when they start to leak anyway I just replaced both through the Airbag Man in Brisbane who were quite prepared to do a good deal once I mentioned how cheap they are through the US.

Good luck with the new Disco I'm sure you will enjoy it.

 cheers,
 Terry

Owners manual not critical but service history is a must.

People often replace air-susp with standard springs for reliability.

XS-Never heard of it sorry-Se or HSE sure.

Sunroofs can leak and could be quite simple as a drain or new seal. Get it checked properly.
Little electrical gremlins do occur and are part of the mystique of a Land Rover so welcome to that.
Check for oil leaks, possible accident damage and generel wear etc.
Pay a couple of bucks and take to a land Rover mechanic for a pre-purchase check up.
Its well worth it as they know what to look for.

Good luck and enjoy the ride.

Find someone with a Nanocom to give it a check. If they have a Nanocom, they will know something of these fourbies.
