    Td5 clock lamp

The lamp is held in a small holder that is held in by pushing and turning 1/4 turn.
You should see the back of it,about 6 mm diam. From memory,I think it has a screwdriver slot in it.

I thought it was the same press fit bulb as the Tdi Disco's clock. Should be on the back of the clock and just unplug and pull out.

First you have to remove the clock from the dash. The lamp is actually on the open side on the Series 2 Disco clock, not like the Series1 where it is on the back . You may have to prise away the black foam type tape to get access, then a 1/4 turn to release the globe.

If it's anything like the one I pulled out of the Defender to chuck in a tacho, these nothing to twist out.

I tried unclipping the front fascia but it seems too difficult to get the hands off so I guess that's not correct.

My Disco 2 clock globe is blown too, is the clock easy to get out?
Must admit I put it into the too hard file, being a Land Rover, I thought I might have to pull the engine out first or something!

I was under the impression that the TD5 defender onwards had leds in the instruments and were unservicalble, ie when a led blows you by a new guage. Maybe some one in the trade knows more about this? Scouse?

It takes about 2 mins to replace the bulb in the clock.

Push a credit card in between the top and bottom of the clock and its surround, it is then simply pulled out forwards. Twist and turn and fit a new bulb.

Procedure here, its for a D1, but its the same for a D2

If it's the same as my D1 clock it was really easy. It pops out with a screwdriver on either side. Push fit. Also the bulb is a rip off from the dealers. I just soldered a 12 v globe across the two metallic terminals and she's been fine for months. 60c fix versus $12.95. I used the same technique on the dash lights. All fine. Cheap and easy.
