do we have that law about using equal force? as in, if the criminal has a gun, you can use a gun against them. if they have a knife, you can only use a knife etc...?

I remember watching a show on Foxtel a few years ago about being a cop in some bad a$$ parts of the world. From memory one of the South African cops was asked if when apprehending a suspect he ever had to fire a warning shot. He said yes. The interviewer then asked him, "where do you fire the shot, in the air?" and the cop replied, "no, in the back. I find that is usually a pretty good warning". I don't know if he was taking the mickey out of the guy but it just cracked me up!

Back in Uruguay the police have to yell first to stop and then can shoot to the "air" with the purpose of intimidate the suspect.

Many times they shoot to the air between the end of the barrel and the head of the culprit

Also it is common to live the back of the their ute open or accidentaly not closed properly, then you know the rest.........

No we dont have equel force laws the law says sufficant force to top the attack, that means provided they have the ability to carry out the attack you can use what force you think is required to stop them but once you have stoppe them you have to stop as well or it becomes assault but as my instructor said if you are the only witness left alive

There was a story about a dirt bag in the US that shot a policeman
When the SWAT team found him they shot him 68 times
Asked why they shot him so many times they said that was all the bullets that they had..............

Can't you shoot them and then say you were marking them for identification purposes?

Also, when you're beating the tar outa them you need to remember to yell "Put the knife down!" or some such- just for the witnesses.
