Thieving bastards.

One of my son’s friends has had his driving lights stolen from his Patrol while it was parked in his driveway at home.

Frankston.

I thought it amusing, that after pontificating about how he should have secured them better, I was informed that they were the driving lights mounted on the roof rack, and that the thieving bastards took the whole rack, lights included. Hmm.

It got me thinking about how to secure driving lights simplistically. I figured I would drill a hole through the bolt and put a pop rivet through it.

But then I thought that that would become apparent AFTER they started to remove them. Ideally you would want to defeat them before they started.
Because we all know, you don’t want to waste the thieving bastards time, because he/she may become annoyed and cause damage in retribution.

Speaking of retribution, apparently you aren’t permitted to shoot them.

Heading a bit off topic, aussie law? you cant shoot them. NZ law you can shoot them if its night time and you were in fear of violence the trick being that your fire arm should be secured, but hay it was out for cleaning

Technically no, but if you don't get caught !!

I have a massive property I'm allowed to shoot on, plenty of places to hide a body there

You call out loudly "Stop, or I will shoot" then fire a warning shot and shoot the culprit. Make sure the warning shot is the second one.

Nope....the authorities put the dog down and then you are for thousands of dollars to pay the "victim" of the dog attack

I just wonder if the compensation to this bastards is for the lost of income

I have been without driving lights for about 20 years now, mainly because the soles that pinched them are probably still using them- Cibie Oscars.
Its a funny thing but good replacement headlights/inserts have been enough for me since. I keep telling myself no one is gunna pinch them.
I went on a night drive with some Toyota surf/4 runner owners last Friday night & had to giggle when they kept telling each other to douse thier roof lights & the fact is, I didn't need extra lights.
The annoying thing about losing my lights was that I'd parked the Landie out the front of the holiday house we were staying at as it was our last night there & some local lads in a ute were cruising up & down the road with a spottie looking in the scrub & calling out things like "it came off around here" plus assorted engine revs. I very nearly went out to help them but had packed the torch away & was in my PJ's.
It's a good thing I didn't go out as I most likely would have got into the greatest barney ever, as these thieving so & so's were busy getting the lock nuts off & all the activity was a screen to cover the noise. It took them over 10 min as I had done a lot to make them thiefproof & had even considered welding them on ( I wish I had )

warning shots are illegal as bullit has to stop somewhere but if the car is in the back yard under the companian animals act dogs are allowed to defend their territory(NSW)but you can use firearms if you think your life is in danger screwdrivers are a deadly weapon if you are threatened and if he dosent have one i am sure you do
